Cruddas Park(Riverside Dene) Flats Demolition

Work has begun to demolish some of the high rise flats that have dominated Newcastle’s skyline since the 1960s. The tower blocks in Cruddas Park went up as part of T Dan Smith’s vision for a “city in the sky”.

Work to dismantle five of the housing blocks should take around nine months.

The Beeches, The Poplars, The Willows, King’s Meadows, and Haughton Court will come down as efforts to regenerate the area, now known as Riverside Dene, continue.
