Walker, St. Anthony's School

St. Anthony’s Church of England and Wharrier Street primary schools, both in Walker, were closed in August 2012. They have been replaced by a new-build school, Central Walker Church of England Primary School.

Lovely to find this. My dad was the head teacher at St Anthony’s at that time - Mr Fisher!

I went to this school from it being new and remember Mr Fisher with great fondness. Probably the best teacher / headmaster I ever had.

Same here, this was when the likes of miss Shields, Mr Tan and miss Potts were there. Went to Allenheads with this school.

I went to this school in the 80s. Loved it. Teachers I can remember are Mr Tann and his target board for maths :) Mr Horricks, Mr Atkinson was the head, Mrs Saints, Mrs Sheilds too. Also went to Alanheads, Carrshields and wallington hall. I remember one of the dinner ladies, Betty who used to work in the local shop on Walker Road. Hornsbys. Happy Memories.
