Little more than a couple of fields and 2 adult football pitches, Harbottle Park underwent an £800,000 revamp in 2010. All the works to improve the park were suggested by the community following consultation. New play equipment, a football-themed gateway, new pathways, entrance features, new lighting and drainage added to the new football pitches used by Walker Central Juniors FC and the local Sunday League team Byker and St Peters FC.
By 2020 St Peters FC have folded and I believe Walker Central Juniors FC no longer use the football pitches.
One thing I can't work out is how this can be called a park when there is not a single seat throughout. It seems residents who like a seat while in the park have been forgotten about.

A tree planting session organised by Urban Green Newcastle was well attended by local families after an appeal for help. Around 1000 native trees were planted in the southern end of the park.
