Iris Brickfield, named after the wife of the owner of the former brickworks on this site, has a history of changing land use from farm land to a brick works, to landfill and to its present use as a park and allotments.
The area is popular with local people and includes play areas, wetland and increasing areas of trees and shrubs. Local people have also been involved in developing the sites wildlife appeal, and host the annual community festival.
