Byker - Bolam Street School Demolition

Half of Bolam St School was demolished a few years ago when the school merged with the old Raby Street School to form Byker Primary School which is on the site of the old Raby Street School.

The remaining half of Bolam Street School was used by the local sea cadets group and the city council for something or other in recent years until it's closure a few months back.

God, the end of Bolam St School, how depressing,
Sitting here in Florida, and visited your page for the first time, what a surprise. Us old expatriates like to think that the old neighborhood would always stay somewhat the same. The Bolam St demolition photos were so depressing.
I used lived at 154 Commercial Rd from 1935 til 1962. I reminisce about the old Byker often.
    Cheers,
    Syd HUdspith
