My Great Grandparents lived at number 40-42 Percy Street and ran a family butcher shop in the late 1800's. This photo in particular from your collection means a great deal to me. Thank you for making all the photos available on the internet. Dianne Hendey, Brisbane, Australia.
No problem. There are some more older images of Percy St to be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/twm_news/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/newcastlelibraries/sets/
I have an old family map of land owned by Louisa Carr. The borders of the area was Percy St and St. Thomas, the Newcastle University is now on the land I believe. Where can I find more info? I am so glad to find your blog!Debbie
