Newcastle Student Fees Protest

Students from schools, colleges and universities in the city gathered at old Eldon Square to protest against proposals to raise tuition fees.

The government plans to allow tuition fees to rise to up to £9,000 a year. The demonstration was one of a number happening around the UK.

Also around the city, up to 300 pupils from Heaton Manor School walked out as part of the demonstrations.

great photos by the way!

Thanks.

I think he was actually apologising for getting in my way although I was expecting what you mentioned to happen but he was quite polite.

oh that's good to know, I keep in my camera bag a print out of the laws relating to taking photos etc in public but in reality I am not sure what I would do if I was ordered to stop!

I'm also quite familiar with the law regarding my camera in public but if the police want to stop you then you don't have much choice.
I speak from experience here.

A couple of times over the years I've been ordered to stop taking photos of something and explained I was doing no wrong and shall continue and then I just got threatened with arrest on totally made up charges.
